Tip #2 – Try Different Styles

This is part of the practical application of sketching, and can actually be a really fun part! Try grabbing a piece of paper near you and sketch what’s in front of you with a style you’ve never tried before. For example …

…here are two ideas of different styles:

– Deep, bold strokes and defined dark/light areas.
– Light feathery strokes and soft shadowing.

Be creative with your sketches and see how many different styles you can come up with. There are many possibilities with sketching, and the ideas in this post are just two thoughts of what could be done.
