Do you need a little something “extra” for your Thanksgiving table this year? Not only are these printable place cards simple and easy to use, they are also a great coloring activity!

Here are three creative ways to use these place cards during Thanksgiving:

1. Heart-to-Heart Sharing: Write a special Scripture verse inside of each card before placing them on the table. During the meal, have each guest open their card and read the Scripture verse you picked for them. Take a moment to explain why you choose that verse specifically for them. For example, if 1 Corinthians 15:58 was chosen, it could be because you’re thankful for how this certain guest stands firm in God’s calling for him and that he gives himself fully to God’s work.

If you have time, give each guest a place card with the name of someone else in the group. In between the meal and dessert have each person choose a Scripture verse for the name they received. During or after dessert have everyone share the selected Scripture verse they chose, along with the person’s name that they received, and why they choose the Scripture verse they did for that person.

2. Find and Match: Write one word related to Thanksgiving on each of the cards (for example, “thanks” or “praise”). Hide the cards around a room. When it’s time, have the children or young people of the group find the cards one at a time. Each time a card is found, help the young person look up a Scripture verse (using a concordance) that includes that word. Write down the Scripture verse reference on the card.

3. Create a Garland of Thankfulness: Print off multiple sheets of place cards and color the drawings on the cards. Cut off the back flap of each card and punch holes in the two upper corners. Write down five things you are thankful for on each card and then string the cards into a garland. Display on the table as a sort of pathway linking the table settings to each other, or hang it up in the entry way to the eating area.

Will you be using these for your Thanksgiving table or for a celebration? I’d love to know!
