Sweet Lydia Lane can’t wait to meet you! If you decide to download her, I’d love to know in the comments! This paper doll includes an optional stand. To use it, simply cut out the white strip on the left side of the paper and cut slits on either end (parallel with the short end of the stand, about a half an inch in from the end) as well as corresponding slits on the two white stands (one on the doll and the other with her Christmas dress). Fold the long stand in half once its cut out and use the slits to fit the long stand into the white stand(s). If you’d like more information/help on how to do this, just let me know!
Ready for a little story? Travel alongside Lydia …
Snow fell in blurry speckles of flickering crystals, their dainty gentleness throwing an ice-laden beauty across the landscape.
Lydia pushed snow with the toe of her boot, watching it fluff into powdery sprinkles back onto the frozen ground. All was quiet, except the sound of her older brother’s footsteps. Work waited for them ahead. Pleasant work, though. She never tired of seeing maple syrup pour from the tall trees in the woods.
With a little jump, Lydia crossed a frozen stream and watched as the light glinted off the surface, her thoughts wandering. Tomorrow they’d celebrate it. Celebrate with a bonfire, roasted apples and pumpkin pie. Gifts and singing carols.
But then. It had been a stall …a manger. God arriving–in the humble, human form of a baby. A child–Who would one day be a Shepherd of His sheep. A boy–Who would one day give His life on a cruel cross.
And He knew who she was.
So many years later.
“Jesus,” Lydia whispered, slowing her pace and closing her eyes just for a moment, “You’re here.”
Reaching out her hand, Lydia finished.
“Can you hold my hand? I want to walk with You.”
And on a low Virginian mountain, with swirls of delicate snow flitting through the air, walked not two, but three.
Truly, He is our Immanuel. God with us.
… “and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” Matthew 1:23b

I came across your artwork looking for historical paper dolls that would help my girls connect with the periods of American history we’re learning about. We’ve all so enjoyed the beauty & costumes of the characters you’ve created! As someone who cares deeply about representing & honoring minority communities throughout our country’s history, I’m also so moved by the diversity of your characters. Thank you for sharing your work with us!
Beth, thank-you so much for your thoughtful, kind and encouraging words!
