Clouds. Soft-winged mist of protective covering. Swirling mass of warning trouble. Moist thickness of a hovering shield. Beautiful art forms that consistently travel across the vestige of earth, these masterpieces, they express truth …

If you’ve ever ridden up into the sky within the metal enclave of an airplane, perhaps you have experienced what it’s like to pierce through the delicate cloud layer–so thin one could never actually rest on the mist and remain unaffected by gravity. Though so transparent, their culminated droplets create beautiful landscapes above our heads. Their vast width and number designing patterned shadows across the land.

Have you witnessed through the narrow opening of a plane’s window, the blanketed covering of fluffy mountains brushed with the golden rays of the sun?

Or have you travelled over flat farmland and found yourself encompassed by a big dome like an upside-down, clear-sided bowl? Clouds floating across the expanse like swaths of light-colored paint?

Have you walked upon the seaside and become a spectator of the beautifully transforming masterpiece called a sunset?

Have you looked up and out of a window and seen the changing sky, perhaps seeing the signal of a coming storm?

Have you listened to the roar of thunder and seen the flicker of fire-like splits of light piercing into the darkness?

Have you see the triumph of breaking clouds after a torrential storm?

Have you heard about the power of swirling clouds too strong for rooted trees and which overcame quiet ocean depths?

These changing forms of artwork are reminders of who God is.

“When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?” Psalm 8:3-4

God’s creation speaks of Himself, the Creator. What He has created speaks of Who He is.

Are clouds beautiful? So is God.

Are clouds powerful? So is God.

If the clouds are able to move quickly from storm to sunrise, how much more can God do so within our lives?

“Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty. Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:” Psalm 104:1-3
