Prismacolor Premier® Pencils
If you’re just starting out and want something that will serve you very well and that can be bought at a reasonable price*, try the Prismacolor Premier® Pencils! These are wax-based and can have a nice lay down of color.
Faber-Castell Polychromos® Pencils
Perhaps you already have some Prismacolor pencils and would like to experiment with another brand–these could be a good choice! Although pricer, they have a great lay down of color. There are oil-based and can feel smoother than the Prismacolor pencils when it comes to coloring. These pencils also have pretty colored barrels with gold stripes on the end.
Tombow Irojiten Colored Pencils
Want to go a step further in the area of a more controlled lay down of color? These pencils can be great for light glazes–when you want just a bit of a certain color. These pencils also have a pretty aesthetic with lovely white barrels and colored ends.
